Surrounded by hills and mountains ¸ rivers and rivulets¸ flora and fauna ¸Gokul-Parvati Rural College¸kuntara was born in 1978 in a small private house called ?kutali?so called a mill. The baby institute started with 14 number of pupils. The college was named after Gokul and Parvati - a couple who extended a helping hand of one lakh rupees as donation. Now the college has its own building located at the outskirt of village Kuntara. The college has 5.47 acres of land of its own . It is 22 K.M. away from the sub-divisional head quarter Kuchinda and 60 K.M. from the South-eastern railway at Bamra Station.

The college has been set up to cater to the educational needs of the masses especially belonging to schedule tribes and schedule castes. The college imparts education both in +2 Arts and Science and +3 Arts streams.

The college is affiliated to both CHSE¸ Odisha¸ Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur University¸ Jyoti Vihar Burla.

It has a number of class rooms ¸ staff and students? common rooms¸ laboratories¸ a separate principal?s room¸ a +2 Ladies? Hostel and a +3 Ladies? Hostel funded by UGC and a big playground.
