ARCHITECTURE is one of several professional activities¸ law and medicine are others - which are evidently so necessary to mankind that they have existed from almost the start of civilisation. Shelter is an elemental need¸ Architecture is much more than merely building a shelter. It also attends to psychological needs of the human being occupying it. It is the shaping of our physical environment.

WHAT DO ARCHITECTS DO ?
Architect?s task is essentially to design building¸ individual or groups of them for different purposes. Whether a building is in the heart of a great city or on perimeter of village¸ it is for the use of the people and should be designed with a compassionate understanding of those who work¸ live or play within and around it. That it should be appropriate to its location¸ efficient¸ economical and capable of enhancing the quality of life¸ need not be stressed. These are the qualities which architects can still offer and these qualities are important to communities. They need re-definition and the architect needs to reconfirm his commitment to them.
