DESCRIPTION :

Computing in NITK was started in a modest way with departmental and Central LANs. These are integrated through campus LAN and the Central Computer Centre supports the academic environment as Network Operations Centre¸ Server Space Facilitator¸ Internet Access Provider and Lab support.

The CCC occupies the ground and first floor of the building opposite to the Silver Jubilee Auditorium. CCC was established in 1995 as a service providing/supporting facility that augments to the computing facilities in the teaching departments.

The facility has a 200KVA Diesel generator that was established in 1994 itself and one 20KVA and two 15 KVA online UPS systems providing backup power during the changeover. The recently established 33KV electrical substation is expected to improve the reliability of electricity and hence that of the network.
