From its humble beginning as a Food Craft Institute in1969 offering short term courses¸ the College was re-christened to its present name in1983 and commenced offering the 3 Year Degree in Hotel & Hospitality adminstration. Today¸ the Institute is widely regarded as one of the premier Institutes in the country to equip aspirants to the hospitality service.

The Bangalore Institute was set up jointly by the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka..
