As mentioned earlier like degree colleges¸ polytechnics were running by Government and on grant in aid bases. No self financial technical institutions were existed. Considering the demand of technical education and Governments inability to provide technical education to the large persons the Gujarat Government has permitted to start technical institutions on self financial basis from the year 1995. There are about 24 polytechnics are offering diploma courses in the state through self financial basis.
