True wisdome is known what is likely to happen. These words can be best ascribed to Swami Jyothirmayananda¸ the chief Sevak representing Delhi Chinmaya Sewa trust. He was the main architect who responded to the call given by the Board of Director of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited¸ Haridwar in 1987¸ for establishing a Science Degree College in their premises. Since then the efforts continued and the College was approved by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh vide their letter No 282/15-11-89-2-24/88 dated 13th March 1989. U.P.. Government put the college on grant-in-aid list from 3rd Oct¸1994 ¸ vide letter Degree Arth-1/3717-21/96-97 dated 22-5-96.

The history of its genesis rested on the pragmatic collaboration of B.H.E.L. Among those¸ who responded to our offer of Service and deserved mention in these pages¸ are Sri P.S.Gupta¸ the then Chairman¸ B.H.E.L¸ Late Sri D.V.Bhatnagar¸ G.M.(I) and Sri R.D.Shukla¸ the then G.M.(P&A)¸ B.H.E.L. The efforts culminated in laying the foundation of the college on 16th May 1989. The then Chief Ministry¸ Sri Narayan Dutt Tiwari¸inaugrated the College amidst the chanting of vedic hymns and the blissful radiations of Pujya Gurudev's spritual aura.College opened its portal for youth on 11th December 1989.

The Chinmaya Degree College represents and reflects tthe original concern of pujya Gurudev H.H.Swami Chinmayananda for Indian roots of education¸ its rich heritage and culture and will continue to reflect it at graduate and post-graduate level of education in future too. This College is just an extension of the vast network of educational and social services institutions spread all over India and abroad. it can justifiably take pride in having an enviable record in the academic and extractcurricular fields in a short span of its fifteen years of existence.
